Social psychology requires lots of one-on-one, open-mindedness, social skills, and overall interaction. My personality is very very outgoing, and one of the things I love is making someone feel like they belong.  I have compassion and I have always been the person to make others feel comfortable no matter the situation. I also have great interpersonal skills, which means I am able to work well with a diverse group of people. This is why I believe social psychology would be a great field for me to go in.

Growing up, I was always an outsider. From Elementary all the way up until my freshman year of high school. I was not outgoing, and social environments gave me anxiety. This affected how I would perform in academics and extra-curricular activities. I remember in the 8th grade my science teacher, Mrs. Terrazas, would ALWAYS make me feel included and comfortable. She got me out of my little shell and was very personal with me. It was a great learning experience and my attitude changed forever after that and it has shaped me into who I am today and how comfortable I am in the presence of other people.

"The social psychology of this century reveals a major lesson: often it is not so much the kind of person a man is as the kind of situation in which he finds himself that determines how he will act. The disappearance of a sense of responsibility is the most far-reaching consequence of submission to authority."          -Stanley Milgram
