M6 Task #counselorshelp
The American Counseling Association (ACA) has named April Counseling Awareness Month! The ACA is focusing promotions on mental health counselors, school and college counselors, substance abuse counselors, and career counselors, but the month honors all of us.
My experiece with this really changed my whole perspective on counseling. Counseling gives you the opportunity to sort out a problem or issue that you've had trouble figuring out on your own. it is always nice to have that certain person get you through the rough stages that may come in life. Counselors are truly a blessing and should never be taken for granted. Many people do not know that April is counselors awareness month, and through my post i feel like more poeple will get exposed to it and the hashtag #counselorshelp. Through these little things, society can make a difference and speak out though peoples' experiences.

It is really encouraging to hear a story about how a counselor and counseling changed someone's life. It is so sad when someone chooses to accept a problem they have of "just being who they are," and therefore making an excuse for why they shouldn't try to fight it. I have seen it multiple times in my life in other people, and it makes me frustrated when I see it happen.
ReplyDeletenice blog! I really enjoyed reading it.. Before this class I would of agreed with Scott thinking that going to a therapist is a sign of weakness., but now that I have gained more understanding of how it works and had a few guest speakers talk to us there is no shame in getting some help in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this blog! It was so very well organized and well written! Good job and keep up the good work! It is awesome to be able to read a sorry where people are actually helped by a counselor. It is so sad when people believe that a counselor cannot help, and that there is a sign of weakness. Good blog i cannot wait to see what you write next week.
