Intro to psychology had been a very fun class for me this semester, and a class that has made me super interested in going into the field of psychology. Here is an overview of how my semester in this class went all wrapped up in my last final blog 🙂

There were a lot of things that stood out to me in Psycology, but these specific things really made my interest soar.
- The link given about the sub-fields and careers in psychology was very interesting. It opened my eyes about how much opportunity there is out there for psychology and how many different branches there are.
- This was one of my favorite weeks, learning about the brain. It boosted my interest in how psychology relates to it. Before writing my blog, I researched how the cerebral cortex relates to concussions in football and how if its damaged it can lead to many horrible psychological issues.
- I loved learning about Human growth and development in week 5 and the gift of life
- The blog over learning was unique. I loved incorporating the different components (real world, science, and personal)
IN CLASS:
M7 task was my favorite task out of all of them. Every day I had to write 3 good things that happened throughout the day and reflect on them. This was something I really enjoyed doing because it took my mind off all the negatives that may have occurred. Fron doing this task, I am now going to continue to do this every day. It was relaxing and was a great way to end the day before heading to bed.
Another video that i enjoyed was in M7. By watching the psychological science of happiness lecture video, I learned that happy people have higher incomes and superior work outcomes, so I most definitely am going to try my best to stay happy about everything :) Through happiness, I enjoy the little things in life and cherish every moment given to me.
- In class during week 11 , I remember doing an exercise over making judgements of an individual and trying to figure out their profession. It is crazy how fast we grow to judge people based off a social aspect and it was a great relation to everyday life and judgements.
- When taking notes, in week 11 as well, it was interesting to learn about personal and situational aspects. Also, I enjoyed learning about stereotypes and how accurate it is in society today.
- Week 12 was a very heart-touching week in class. We learned about different aspects of mental health, specifically depression, and suicide. It is something going on everywhere to many people in our world today and through watching the videos in class it inspired me to want to act to help individuals going through this.
When we were on positive psychology, Carolynn Thompson, and Bryan Zepeda did an activity where the whole class basically focused on all of the positives that are occurring in our lives. I loved this activity because it took my mind off all of the negatives and made me realize it’s not worth focusing on the negatives in life :)

M1 (a) task on "Getting to know me" was one of my favorite tasks. This was our first blog and made me realize that I was,in fact, a great creative blogger!
MY FAVORITE BLOGGER GOES TO.......
DANIEL BEAL
Daniel Beal’s blogs always stood out to me. He is great at his choice of words and how he presents his point to the audience. I enjoyed reading his blog posts all semester, and I always learned something new from them.

- I always loved the video readings. Dr. Pris is great at choosing which videos will keep us engaged and interested in learning more. When watching the lecture video in M4 week 7, the topic that caught my interest was social-learning. I could relate to this because this is personally how I learn most things.
- The ted talk that I enjoyed most was the talk about the difference between the adult and teenage brain. I interviewed my mom about this, and I learned so much about the brain while doing this. In regards to my personal life, the toppic that stood out most to me that affects my personal life was motivations. I have learned many strategies from this topic to capitalize my strengths and overcome my weaknesses in life. These strategies include:
- Our motives give us our aims and the drive to achieve them. Anything that's motivating makes us feel good! We should constantly motivate ourselves
- The arousal of emotion and motives of motivation both activate or energize behavior, by acting on emotion then my behavior may go from negative to positive.
- Motivation drives us to do the best we can do, no matter what situation, without motivation I personally have a hard time functioning and aiming for the best that I can be.

Positivity is essecntial for my professional life. Remaining positive about academics, and my career in training is a big part of wanting to be successful in these fields. By remaining positive, it will boost my mood and energy.
POSITIVITY: - Helps you engage with others more effectively and gain support more easily for your ideas and initiatives
- Develops you as a role model and someone to “watch,” admire and learn from
- Gives you greater positive impact and influence on your culture, your environment and your colleagues (positive language and emotion are magnets)
- Inspires others around you to find the courage to seek -- and move toward -- the positive
- Strengthens your ability to advocate effectively for yourself and others, which in turn attracts more opportunity for all involved
- Paves the way for more collaborative success rather than crushing competition
- Helps you see possibility where others see only hopelessness
- Brings to light your achievements and accomplishments rather than highlighting your failures
In the end, positivity paves the way for growth, and growth breeds success!
